CHRONOLOGY OF MALAY KINGS

SUNGAI MELAYU
01. Sang Seperba, Nila Utama, whom advent at Sungai Malayu Palembang was about 1133 AC became King of Palembang and Menangkabau.

SINGAPORE

02. Sri Tri Buana, Sang Nila Utama, son of Sang Seperba founded Singapore in 1160 AC - 556 AH, and reigned for 48 years.

03. Sri Pekerma Wira succeeded his father, Sri Tri Buana in 1208 AC and reigned for 15 years.

04. Sri Rana Wikerma succeeded his father Sri Pekerma Wira in 1223 AC and reigned for 13 years.

05. Sri Maharaja succeeded his father, Sri Rana Wikerma in 1236 AC and reigned for 12 1/2 years.

06. Sri Iskandar Shah, succeeded his father, Sri Maharaja in 1249 AC and after reigning for about three (3) years, he was attacked and defeated in 1252 AC by Betara Majapahit for not showing submission to the Kingdom of Majapahit. He then escaped himself to mainland.

MALACCA

Raja Iskandar Shah, Sri Iskandar after rambling about Inland for about two (2) years, founded Malacca in 1254 AC and reigned there for more than twenty (20) years, died in 1274.

07. Raja Besar Muda succeeded his father, Raja Iskandar Shah in 1274 AC.

08. Raja Tengah, second son of Raja Iskandar Shah, succeeded his brother Raja Besar Muda in 1275.

09. Raja Kechik Besar, son of Raja Tengah, was the first Malay King who embraced Islam in 1276 and was proclaimed as Sultan Mohamed Shah I.

10. Sultan Abu Shahid, Raja Ibrahim, ascended the throne in 1332, was assassinated by the Regent and succeeded by his brother Raja Kassim.

11. Sultan Muzafar Shah I., Raja Kassim, son of Sultan Mohamed Shah I, ascended the throne in 1334 and reigned for 40 years.

12. Sultan Mansor Shah I, Raja Abdullah, ascended the throne in 1374 and reigned for 73 years.

13. Sultan Aladdin Riayat Shah I., Raja Hussain, son of Sultan Mansor Shah, ascended the throne in 1447. His father, Sultan Mansor Shah I, sent his elder brother Mohamed to Pahang as Sultan of Pahang.

14. Sultan Mahmud Shah I., Raja Mamat, son of Sultan Aladdin Riayat Shah I., ascended the throne in 1477, reigned for several years, after which he left the Kingdom in favour of his son, Raja Ahmad, while he himself resided at Ulu Malacca. He had several other sons, two of whom were afterwards known as Sultan Aladdin Riayat Shah II of Johore and the other as Sultan Muzafar Shah II of Perak.

15. Sultan Mohamed Shah II, Raja Ahmad, ruled during the absence of his father, Sultan Mahmud Shah I at the Ulu Malacca. It was during his time in 1511 that Portuguese defeated Malacca. The Sultan escaped to Muar and then proceeded to Bukit Batu where he was assassinated.

On the above-mentioned defeat, Sultan Mahmud Shah I., proceeded to Muar and Pahang for one year, then he went to Bentan, reigning there for about 12 years, when Portuguese invaded the place. He then left for Kampar to take up the sovereignty left over by his son-in-law, Sultan Abdullah, who had been taken away by the Portuguese to Goa, India. After residing there for five years, Sultan Mahmud Shah I., died.

His son, Sultan Aladdin Riayat Shah II, who afterwards left Kampar for Pahang and married there, succeeded him. After staying there for some years, he proceeded to Sungai Johore, and founded a place near Kota Tinggi which was afterwards called Johore, (vide G.T. 3)
